As with many others in the EMS industry, Robert Ford was introduced to EMS through his Volunteer Fire Department experience. Robert admits that, initially, responding to medical calls was not his strength. He signed up for an EMT class and began developing the skills and confidence that soon brought him enjoyment in providing care to others. Robert said, “EMS responses gave me a sense of accomplishment unlike any other. I found that I could make a difference in people’s lives on what might be the worst day of their life.”
Robert joined LifeNet as a fulltime EMT in March of 2019 and found his home in the career that brings him so much fulfillment. Robert is considered a “go to” partner by everyone with whom he shares an ambulance or station. Of the many nominations by his peers to represent LifeNet as a Star of Life, one coworker said, “Robert shows exceptional dedication, quick decision-making, and adept response during critical situations.” Robert takes an active role in developing new employees and enjoys introducing newcomers to the tips, tricks, and safety measures that will stick them through their successful EMS careers.
Robert and his wife Yvette met while both were competing in rodeos. They have been married 31 years, raising their children Justin (27) and Mckyna (16). When not at work, Robert enjoys giving to his community in many ways. He serves on the Payne County Fair Board and as superintendent for livestock shows and events. Robert has enjoyed working with 4H and FFA youth for more than 21 years as they develop skills in animal husbandry and showmanship.
